Meet the PLT team π Ellen Nathues:I am an Assistant Professor of Organization, Collaboration & Communication - and I work with and study businesses and organizations that seek to collaborate with others beyond their organizational boundaries, such as in innovation projects, learning communities (e.g., @CLIC-IT), or other new and alternative forms of organizing π₯πͺ’ My research is mainly qualitative and ethnographic, meaning that I try to get as close as possible to the actual work being done, following professionals around as they proceed with their work, observing team meetings, and so forth. One metaphor that has greatly inspired my work is that of βventriloquismβ β belly-speaking β to elucidate how we make present additional voices whenever we speak π£οΈ such as the voice of our organization, our profession, a value that we find essential, and so forth.I greatly appreciate that the PLT group is bringing together very diverse scholars - while we all share the objective of better understanding professional learning, collaboration, and innovation through rich, processual research methods. And another plus point: more and more colleagues join the group who are as passionate about horse-riding as I am, so that makes for great coffee conversations! π΄βοΈ

The Universiteiten van Nederland made a video of our new research project, Smart Skills@Scale, to show the impact of science! This project aims to foster a more human-centered and sustainable Smart Industry. How can production workers keep up and contribute to all the technological innovations? What can we do to ensure happy, healthy, productive production workers? We will collaborate with partners such as TINT Apeldoorn to achieve this. Visiting them and seeing how this project can make a difference was a great pleasure! From our PLT research group, Marcella Hoogeboom, Mireille Post-Hubers, Maaike Endedijk, Lisa Winkelman, and AkvilΔ Bouwens will work on this project.

A festive start of the week π Monday we welcomed Cecilia Schramm and Tom Tijink to our PLT research group! Cecilia starts with her PhD on professional learning in software development teams for ethically responsible AI with Sebastian. Tom takes a more practically oriented route with his EngD (before: PDEng) into the design of an incubator for the CLIC-IT Learning communities project. In this incubator, support is provided for Learning Communities in selecting, adapting, and effectively utilizing methods and tools to drive innovation. In the coming year, we will continue to expand our team - and perhaps you are interested in joining us for our next coffee & cake celebration? Today, our colleague Mireille Post-Hubers gave a lecture to the Judicial system in the Netherlands entitled "the inconvenient truth about change". Part of that inconvenient truth is that during change processes, we protect our two core values at all costs: inclusion (belonging to the group) and autonomy (being able to govern yourself). Paying attention to this process is one of the keys to successful change.#organizationalchange #transformation #personaldevelopment

Meet the PLT team π Starting off with Maaike Endedijk, head of the PLT research group: As a professor in Professional Learning & Technology, I love to dive into questions on how learning "in the flow of work" evolves and can be supported. I am especially intrigued to better understand and facilitate these processes in the context of large transitions, such as the energy transition or digital transformation. My ambition is that 100% of the workforce gets and feels supported to continuously develop themselves to keep up with and contribute to these transitions and other changes in their work. To achieve this ambition, my projects not only focus on large companies, but also on SMEs and blue-collar workers. What I love most about working in the PLT group? I very much enjoy the Shut Up And Write weeks that we organize every quartile. It is hard to make time for writing and this is a great routine. But more importantly, it is so great to be together as a team for a whole week. Although we work our individual writing goals, we benefit enormously from each other's support in the form of advice, encouragement, and chocolate. Outside work, I love to cook, bake, spend time with my family, and to play the double bass in the Oost-Nederlands Symphonic Orchestra π©π³πΆ

Last week, we had the 3rd PLT Shut Up And Write Week of this academic year. We do this four times per year and lock ourselves for a week into one room on campus to focus on writing our papers and proposals! With help of the pomodoro technique, snack vegetables, chocolate and lots of coffee we boost our productivity and team building! This time, we alternated our writing sessions with stretching exercises supervised by Annemarie Dedden, a gotcha game organised by AkvilΔ Bouwens and Ilona Friso-van den Bos, and we closed our four-day retreat with drinks and an Easter egg hunt organised by Sandra Schele and Sietse Brands. Already looking forward to our next week in June!
