Get ready, SUV enthusiasts! Mahindra is revving up its ICE lineup, and the upcoming 2026 Scorpio N Facelift is causing quite a stir. While Mahindra is making waves in the electric vehicle arena, they're also dedicated to keeping their internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles competitive, especially in the mid-size SUV segment. This is where the Scorpio N, along with the XUV700 (potentially to be renamed XUV7XO with the facelift), truly shines.
The buzz around the XUV700 facelift has been building, but sightings of the Scorpio N facelift have been rarer, making this news even more exciting. This is only the second time the Scorpio N facelift has been spotted undergoing testing on public roads. Automotive enthusiast Subramanian V captured the latest spy shots near a petrol station in Chennai. Let's dive in and see what's in store.
Mahindra's Dominance in the Mid-Size SUV Market
Mahindra currently dominates the mid-size SUV market in India, holding approximately 78% of the market share as of October 2025. The Scorpio (both Classic and N) is the undisputed champion, commanding a significant 45.34% share of this segment. An update to the Scorpio N is a major move for Mahindra, with the potential to boost its appeal both domestically and in export markets.
What to Expect: Design and Features
The test mule was spotted covered in full camouflage, but the anticipated changes are most visible in the front fascia. Expect a revised grille, a new LED DRL signature, and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The alloy wheels on this particular test mule seem to be the same as the current model, but the production version of the Mahindra Scorpio N facelift might feature a fresh wheel design.
There's also a possibility of the wheels being upsized to 19 inches, which would give the Scorpio N an even more rugged appearance. While the overall silhouette is expected to remain largely unchanged, the Scorpio N facelift will retain most of its sheet metal from the current model. The same ladder-frame underpinnings will also be kept, which is a defining characteristic of the Scorpio N.
But here's where it gets controversial... The most significant updates are likely to be found inside the cabin. To stay ahead of the competition, which is packed with impressive features, the Scorpio N needs to evolve.
And this is the part most people miss... Potential new features for the Scorpio N facelift could include front and rear ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital TFT instrument cluster, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, powered front seats, a memory function for the driver, a more premium Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, and even an auto park feature.
Powertrain and Launch Timeline
The Mahindra Scorpio N facelift is expected to retain its current engine options: a 2.0L Turbo Petrol and a 2.2L Turbo Diesel engine. These will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It would be great if the Diesel engines get a higher torque tune, similar to the 450 Nm available in the XUV700. The 4X4 transfer case will also be retained, keeping the true-blue SUV characteristics intact.
While Mahindra hasn't confirmed a specific launch date for the Scorpio N facelift, it's speculated that it could hit Indian roads by the end of 2026.
