Jalapeno Popper Wontons
If you love jalapeno poppers, you will love these wontons. The wonton wrappers are air-fried to a crispy texture and hold all the deliciousness of a jalapeno popper inside. You definitely get the flavor of the jalapeno pepper in each bite, including cream cheese and bacon. Enjoy them right from the air fryer as-is or dipped in homemade ranch dressing. I also have Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wontons that you might love.
Jalapeno Popper Wontons Ingredients
Jalapeno Peppers:As I stated, you will get a lot of pepper in each bite. I will let you know how to choose jalapeno peppers with more heat if you are looking for more of a kick.
Bacon:Cooked and crumbled bacon is mixed in the filling. You only need four strips for this recipe; use the rest of the bacon for another recipe like my Bacon and Cheese Dip.
Cream Cheese:As with the bacon, you will only use part of a block of cream cheese. Use the other half of the block for my Air Fryer Stuffed Chicken recipe.
Wonton wrappers: You can use round or square wonton wrappers for the jalapeno popper wontons. Or, make your own homemade wonton wrappers.

How to Make Jalapeno Popper Wontons
To make the jalapeno popper wontons, first, in a medium bowl, mix together the jalapenos, bacon, cream cheese, Monterrey Jack cheese, and garlic powder. Then, place about 2 teaspoons of the mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Be careful not to overfill the wrappers so they don’t burst while frying. You may want to keep the wonton wrappers in a damp paper towel to keep them from drying out.
To fold the wonton wrappers, brush the edges with an egg wash and fold in half diagonally. Press the edges to seal in the mixture. Place the filled wontons in a single file into the basket of an air fryer. Spray the tops with cooking spray and cook for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, carefully flip over the jalapeno popper wontons, spray again with cooking spray, and cook for another 5 minutes. When done, remove from the air fryer and repeat with the remaining wontons. Serve with ranch dressing.

How to Know if a Jalapeno Pepper is Spicy
If you are like me and you like things a little spicy, you have been the recipient of the jalapeno that had no kick. On the flip side, you may have had the jalapeno that tasted like a ghost pepper. So, how you can you tell if the jalapeno is spicy?
The older the pepper the spicier it will be. Looking at a pepper, the older ones will have stress marks, like little white lines or flecks on the flesh. The younger (less spicy) peppers will have clear shiny flesh. So if you like them hot, pick the older pepper. If you like the mild, pick the younger one.

Can I Make Jalapeno Popper Wontons in the Oven?
Yes! If you don’t have an air fryer or are using it for another appetizer like Air Fryer Armadillo Eggs, you can bake these wontons in the oven. Follow the instructions up to placing the wontons in the air fryer.
Instead of placing them in the basket of the air fryer, place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, spray with cooking spray, and bake for 8 minutes at 400°F. Flip over the wontons and bake an additional 5 minutes. The wontons won’t be quite as crispy as if cooking them in the air fryer, but you will still get the delicious jalapeno popper flavors in every bite.

What is the Best Air Fryer?
I have tested 3 brands in my home and I recommend theNinja Air Fryer. (affiliate link) You can go up a size if needed, but it is superior in achieving consistent results and also ease of use. I’ve been very happy with this Air Fryer!
